This is JSTE's first blog! We have done so much prior to this post, but I am hoping to be able to document everything that happens from here on out. I would, however, like to back pedal to this past weekend. My horses and I traveled to our first show together. Javier and Tizzy had both never been anywhere besides my boarding barn since coming off the track. Tizzy was the superstar of the weekend! First time at a show, second time jumping fences, and he did amazing. We ended up with 4 second places, a first, and a Grand Reserve for our division. He was incredibly and amazingly calm and collected throughout the whole weekend. I think he enjoys the hustle and bustle because it keeps his distracted mind working. Javier had a very good learning experience. He did not take to the show as expected and was quite anxious. We ended up and did not show him so that his anxiety levels wouldn't get out of hand. He did tour the ground a bit and lunged in the practice rings. He became much more relaxed by the end of the weekend. I think it was very positive for him to be there and to experience a show even if he wasn't actually showing. I was impressed how much he improved each day. Did I mention it was my first show in 14 years? Not bad for a weekend of FIRSTS!
